MONETA GARDENS
Moneta Gardens Improvement, Inc. was founded in 1995 and incorporated
in 1997. The purpose for MGI’S creation was to deal with the many growing
health and human service needs of the residents of one of the poorest area in
Southwest Los Angeles County..
MGI has built alliances throughout Southern California to address the issues
afflicting residents of the area.Today MGI consists of over fifty member
agencies comprised of educational institutions, law enforcement organizations,
health care, and social service providers. In measurable terms, MGI opened the
first Health and Digity Center at Zela Davis Elementary School in 1999 and a
Community Advocacy Center at former Williams Elementary School in 2002. A
second Health and Dignity Center was established in 2005 at York Elementary
to expand health and human services to the financially challenged citizens of
Hawthorne.
The mission of Moneta Gardens Improvement, Inc. (MGI) is to be a
community driven partnership, committed to encouraging, empowering,
and educating individuals and families for a healthy and safe
community.
