Outreach

MGI’s outreach team provides informational handouts and presentations to
under-served community members informing them of available resources
and services. Through advertising and marketing methods including flyers,
posters, brochures, ads, public service announcements, emails, phone
calls, mass mailing, health fairs, special events and door to door outreach,
residents are informed and have access to much needed social service
resources.

HealthCare Benefits Outreach Information and Referrals:

The goal of MGI’s Healthcare Outreach Program is to provide access to free
and low cost quality healthcare coverage programs for low income families
who would otherwise be unable to attain such services on their own. Two
days a week MGI has Health Intake Specialists from RFK Medical Center and
La Vida Medical & IPA in office to sign families up for healthcare programs
such as Medical, Healthy Families and Healthy Kids. With funding provided by
First 5 LA, MGI’s Healthcare Outreach Staff are able to disseminate
information to the community advertising affordable these healthcare
programs. During health intake appointments qualified and well trained staff
and interns provide childcare so that parents can focus on the healthcare
application process. In addition, two MGI staff members are Certified
Application Assistors (CAA) and are trained to assist families in filling out
the application for Healthy Families as well as answer questions on other
available healthcare programs.
